As part of LES Arts & Culture Open House, New York Theatre Workshop will open its doors for a behind-the-scenes look at their newest production of Daniel & Patrick Lazour’s We Live in Cairo. The tours will bring the public through the theatre and administrative building, where they will learn the history of the theatre and its spaces.

In addition, an information table will be available throughout the afternoon (1-5pm), where you can ask staff members about upcoming community programs and sign up for tours!


Tour times: 4:30 pm, 5:00 pm, 5:30 pm
Spots for tours are limited and will be first come, first serve. Sign-ups will be at New York Theatre Workshop’s table. Tours last around 25 minutes and times are subject to change. Please note that access to parts of the building during the tour is via a stoop and several flights of stairs.

Founded in 1979 and incorporated in 1982, New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW)  is committed to the development of innovative theatre by supporting theatre artists at all stages of their careers, providing an environment where work can be created free from the artistic compromise and forbidding financial demands often associated with commercial ventures.

New York Theatre Workshop offers many opportunities for artists to exhibit and produce work. NYTW offers both an artistic and administrative fellowships for those interested in working in the theatre world. They offer workshops and master classes for members of the public and artists. NYTW offers senior and youth programs through community workshops, after school programs, and senior centers. New York Theatre workshops also offers access to their space through “Next Door at NYTW.” This initiative provides each project with subsidized resources and space for development and performance in the Fourth Street Theatre.
