The Cooper Square Committee (CSC) is partnering with the East Village Independent Merchants Association (EVIMA) and East Village restaurants and eateries on the 2nd annual Taste of East Village Festival, a celebration of the neighborhood’s diverse local cuisine on Saturday, September 16th from Noon to 5 pm. Many of last year’s participating restaurants and eateries are returning, including Luke’s Lobster, Veselka, East Village Meat Market, Jimmy’s No. 43, Porsena, Porchetta, Butter Lane Cupcakes, and Insomnia Cookies, and we are adding new ones like Brick Lane Restaurant and Le Petit Parisien. We expect a lot more to join us, and will add them as we get confirmations. Your $25 ticket entitles you to a small plate from 4 of the above restuarants. We will add more restaurants to the list as they join.
The festival benefits the Cooper Square Committee, one of the city’s strongest advocates for tenant rights and affordable housing. CSC has developed over 500 low income apartments in the East Village/Lower East Side community, and is about to open the Bea Arthur Residence for homeless LGBT youth later this summer.
We want to thank our sponsors of this event: BFC Partners, Cooper Square Mutual Housing Association, Community Access and our media partner The Village Voice (more sponsors to come).
