Facilitated by Nick Sharma & Kendra Ross (STooPS)

Nobody understands the cloud! But they should…

There are more free tools available to artists and organizers today than ever before. The right application of these tools has the power to exponentially amplify your organizing efforts. In this workshop will share how STooPS, a platform that uses arts for community building, uses the right blend of digital tools to maximize our internal organizing and external efficacy. Come learn the practical use of software, systems, and tools that are a best friend for artists working in community. Unleash the power of the cloud!

Workshop Goals:
1. Demystify the world of free technology tools through case studies
2. Learn how to figure out what tools to use and when to ensure organizational adoption

3. Become comfortable enough with tools to begin activating them in your own organizations!

What you’ll need:

In order to better follow along with the tools demonstrated participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop computers. Those without access to a personal computer are encouraged to still come regardless to the event, where accommodations can be set up.

Nick Sharma is a 5-year veteran of the community organizing space and has spent nearly a decade working with NYC artists to produce their visions. He is the Director of Operations for STooPS and drives production of the annual cornerstone event by synchronizing the design & branding, financial, and administration teams. When he is not spending his days in the start-up world, Nick is passionate about the ability of art to connect citizens across otherwise seemingly impossible gaps.

Kendra Ross (Founder of STooPS) is a dancer, teaching artist, and community worker from Detroit, MI who now lives in Bedford-Stuyvesant. She was a dancer for Urban Bush Women and currently works for their B.O.L.D network where she co-teaches dance workshops, has been staff for their annual Summer Leadership Institute and co-facilitates community engagement workshops. STooPS is Kendra’s creative brain child and she is thankful for all those who have stepped up to help this child grow!!
