Over the course of six hours the public will draw, paint, spray, and mark Astor’s new addition working together to create a new public artwork. It is hoped that decorated panels from the completed cube will be donated to East Village community centers and community gardens, providing a lasting legacy for Creativity Cubed 2018. As with the dispersal of the public’s limited edition T-shirts, the panels from the Jule7th cube will create a “Network as sculpture”, uniting community via creativity. A lasting testament to the power of collaboration, past, present and future in creative action.
Creativity Cubed is a free public event suitable for all ages, presented by the Village Alliance in partnership with artist Mark John Smith.
On occasion of this event FABnyc will present a series of posters representing the diversity of community mural-making projects in the Lower East Side from the past thirty years. Stop by our installation to learn about which murals are still around today, what led to their creation, and more.
